Attentive listeners, intelligent questions, and lively discussions – Dr. Holger Kern of BASF was thrilled: "I rarely experience such great interest." Together with Oliver Kowald, he conducted a full-day workshop concerning the use of adhesives in coating.

Employees from the operations, development, purchasing, and quality assurance departments and the laboratory met up and took the opportunity to bombard the experts with questions. Everything was covered, from basic knowledge to tricky "phenomena" during the process. The conclusion: keep at it and continue to exchange information!

The workshop was initiated by the team itself. "The desire for more knowledge about adhesives was expressed during one of our cultural transformation meetings – a lot of people are lateral entrants," says operations manager Andreas Hibert. It is clear to him that "This is an active learning culture in its purest form."

He regards it as proof positive of how a proactive approach, responsibility, and excellence are put into practice on a daily basis. With a twinkle in his eye, he says "The mood at our meetings is always good. It helps that we've scheduled them on Fridays. People are then looking forward to the weekend, and that always comes through in the discussions."

This acquisition of knowledge is set to continue. Next, a workshop on printing inks and lacquers is planned.
