Passionate storyteller
When he isn't sat at his desk, Peter Boschella likes to be doing things outdoors
Peter Boschella has written a book
Peter Boschella, our former colleague from the logistics department in Lengerich, has become an author! His first work, which he has now published some two years after retiring, is called "Jansemann." With a great deal of passion, he describes the life of the first-person narrator, Jansemann, from the fictitious town of Schönheim, who loved to climb the cherry tree in the garden as a child to think and daydream.
Peter Boschella has always been a voracious reader, a passion he shares with his wife Elke. It was she who also encouraged him to write a book himself. Both the illustrations and the image for the cover are from her. Their joint work was then actually published this summer by a small publishing house.
"It was tremendous fun," says Peter Boschella enthusiastically. "I made 80 percent of it up, but I really did go to sea. And I also saw the Queen!"
Our author started work as a forklift truck driver at Bischof+Klein on November 11, 1984. From 1991 onwards, he worked in what was then the new high-bay warehouse P20, first as a foreman and later on as a group leader. He retired in October 2024 after almost 40 years.
He encountered the Queen while serving in the German Armed Forces. Because he didn't really know what he wanted to do after leaving school, he brought his national service forwards and joined the Navy. He then completed an apprenticeship at painter and decorator Mutert in Lengerich. Even while he was preparing for his master craftsman's examination in painting and decorating, he switched to Bischof+Klein. "My parents worked there as well. At that time, working at such a big company was like winning the lottery."
His first supervisor benevolently watched how his new employee performed while also completing his master craftsman's examination "on the side." In his view, this also qualified the newcomer to become a foreman in the logistics department. "I had good supervisors who placed their trust in me and pushed me."
So what's next? Is a second work in progress? "My wife says I've told her so much about Bischof+Klein that I could write a book about that, too. But there's so much to tell that I would never be finished." Instead, he's thinking of writing a children's book.
Where exactly was the beloved cherry tree to which "Jansemann" loved to withdraw? "Recently, on one of my bike rides, I plucked up the courage and took a peek into the old garden in Ibbenbüren. It's still standing there!“
