Just a brainwave …
The adapted packing line
An idea improves the packing department
Sometimes it happens entirely by chance: The question of how the robot could load pallets more efficiently cropped up during a morning meeting in the packing department. Nothing spectacular – simply an everyday problem.
But that morning, something went "click" inside Serhan Demirci: Why not adapt the loading point on the packing line rather than tediously repositioning the pallets each time? So far, pallets with specific formats have had to be placed onto another load container, then put onto the packing line, and taken down again after booking – a laborious fourfold handling operation.
The solution was astonishingly simple: a minor design change was sufficient. Now the pallets can be placed directly onto the packing line without the time-consuming intermediate step.
The result is significantly easier work for the forklift truck drivers, increased flexibility, faster processing, and five-digit annual savings. Daniel Zerr, the head of the intralogistics department, is also delighted about this.
This story goes to show that a brief moment in time is often all it takes to initiate a major improvement. Your ideas are valuable for our production – make sure that you contribute them!
