A real coup

More speed and less maintenance in the coating department
When a proactive approach and responsibility encounter one another, it leads to something very special: Process optimizer Witali Bese and the maintenance team consisting of Roland Kulig, Fabian Kielblock, and Frank Böer have elevated the coating department to a new level.
The impetus was provided when Witali Bese visited a customer. They were experiencing the same problems there: adhesive residues, blocked inserts, laborious cleaning work. He reported on it on his return to the plant – and struck precisely the right chord with his colleagues. The technicians had already implemented a few initial ideas, but it hadn't yet proved possible without complete cleaning. Each time maintenance was needed, it meant removal, dismantling, dispatch, readjustment – with downtimes of several days.
Today, that has been consigned to the history books. A clever conversion of the insert means that the adhesive runs directly to the nozzles without any residues. The result is no more cleaning and no more downtimes, but five-digit savings per year instead.
Senior head of department Peter Lehrter is thrilled: "The staff didn't waste time asking questions, they just got the job done." Or as Witali Bese puts it: "That's the new we!“
