Innovation needs networks. This is the only way that a new idea can mature and change the world. The guests at the first Lengerich business breakfast 2025 almost certainly agreed with this statement by Dr. Zeljko Cancarevic, Head of the Bischof+Klein Innovation Center. Over 60 representatives from companies and institutions met up at the InnoLab. The Innovation Center offers all of the prerequisites needed for efficient development processes, information exchange, and networking.
Invitations were issued by the town’s business development department and Logistik Service Lengerich (LSL), a joint venture between Bischof+Klein and Greven-based logistics company FIEGE. In his welcoming address, mayor Wilhelm Möhrke made reference to the town’s activities to create ideal framework conditions for business, such as expanding the fiber optic network: “We aren't waiting around, but are instead practicing successful cooperation that will move our region forwards.”
The presentation by Hartmut Entrup, Director Energy Solutions at FIEGE, focused on specific ideas for the future. His vision: “We are creating charging solutions for industry and logistics.” With PV systems, wind energy, and intelligent storage technology, the FIEGE logistics centers are becoming decentralized power plants and suppliers for the local electricity grid.
LSL managing director Olaf Hügelmeyer thanked everyone for their great interest and introduced Logistik Service Lengerich. With around 40 employees, it primarily deals with Bischof+Klein’s internal and external logistics, but also looks after other customers.
Freight forwarding manager and “LSL founder member” Dietmar Schallenberg invited guests to view Lengerich’s first e-truck. It took some time, he said, but the truck, which has a range of 350 km, has been running reliably on corresponding routes since 2023. He welcomed the mayor’s offer to jointly drive e-mobility forwards in the region. “Together, we have the chance to contribute to securing the future of our children and grandchildren: with climate protection, green logistics, and sustainability.”
