Light bar offers protection
Bernd Tuchen points to the bottom roller, which is protected by a felt mat.
Good idea in the coating department
“You have to be able to move the protector away on your own, otherwise it won’t be accepted.” Bernd Tuchen is familiar with the setup processes in the coating department and knows what is important to his colleagues. Each day, he gets everything ready for four lines so that new orders can be produced as quickly as possible.
Speed is of the essence, for example, when an adhesive application roller on the KST 5510 is lifted out from its “shelf” and inserted into the machine. And conditions here are rather cramped. Finesse is required to maneuver the transport cart if you want to set a cleaned roller down here again. Thick felt mats are used to prevent the rollers already stored there from being scratched.
The bottom roller is most at risk in this process. One recently had to be repaired at a cost of several thousand euros. “That’s an extremely rare occurrence, but it’s very annoying.” This is why Bernd Tuchen suggested attaching a locking bar that keeps the transport cart away from the bottom roller. This protective bar is made of aluminum and is easy to lift out of the way. – Child’s play for his colleagues.
“It’s a simple solution to an expensive problem,” says Witali Bese. He is delighted about the proactive approach that it involves.
