Meaningful and motivating
Uwe Rotermund explained the idea behind the term “new work”
Presentation on “new work” strategies
Around 2,100 km throughout Germany by bike - management consultant, author, and speaker Uwe Rotermund stopped off at Bischof+Klein in Lengerich on this tour. His exciting presentation to around 50 employees (in the InnoLAB and via Zoom) dealt with “Avoiding the complexity trap with new work strategies.”
The idea behind the term “new work” is that people experience more freedom in their work. By deciding for themselves when and where they would like to work, for instance. “Of course, that’s not always possible,” cautioned Uwe Rotermund. After all, a machine operator cannot work from home.
However, other aspects are of interest for the production employees. For instance, the new work concept includes their helping to structure work processes. This is only possible with a less hierarchical structure and if a #proactive approach, #trust, and #responsibility are expressly desired. New work means that people’s work appears personally meaningful to them and motivates them. Ultimately, it has to do with the fact that work is not just an obligation, but can also be enjoyable and fulfilling.
How can that be achieved? Uwe Rotermund provided tips on how changes can succeed in companies. Many of the values that play an important role in our cultural transformation were reflected in his presentation and stimulated discussion: these also included #appreciation, #efficiency, #service, an #active learning culture, and #excellence.
