Forklift driver’s license for Dr. Tobias Lührig

How can you possibly top the academic title of Dr. or PhD? Dr. Tobias Lührig came up with the answer to this question while visiting the Industrial Packaging Conversion department: a forklift driver’s license!

At least that is what it says on a poster that employees had hung up as a joke for a forklift-driving colleague. They had placed the “forklift driver’s license” at the top of an educational pyramid. “That inspired me,” said our CEO with a grin. He promptly got in touch with employee Ismayil Balaman for a training course.

He only needed a refresher, because he had already obtained his first forklift driver’s license 30 years ago while serving with the German Armed Forces. After the theoretical test, he completed some stacking work with the high-reach forklift used for internal transport under the supervision of Ismayil Balaman. He discovered: “He’s definitely got talent.”

Which is why Tobias Lührig was also allowed to climb aboard the ECG 55, which is used to load trucks. “That’s a whole different ball game,” said the ambitious learner driver. Ultimately, however, he also scored “ten out of ten points” on this machine, too. Our CEO is now looking forward to visiting the Logistics department so that he can show off his refreshed skills.
