Farewell to a legend
The Konzell machine team with three Polish colleagues
The AD Plastic “Kathi” is off to Poland
Budding farewell to the AD Plastic line in Konzell was an emotional moment. Its productivity and safety are legendary: Almost 500 million PE sacks were produced with this machine which, in typical Konzell tradition, had been christened “Kathi”. It ran for 48 years in Konzell, and without any accidents whatsoever for seven years and six months. With it, the team showed how safety and efficiency go hand-in-hand.
From the simple cross bottom valve sack to the twin-ply PowFlex® vs, the product portfolio covered a very broad spectrum. In 2021, part of the line was converted to servo technology. Now it will continue to produce at our subsidiary company in Walce. The Polish colleagues have quickly become familiar with its operation and can now also manufacture special products such as sacks made of Tyvek® or the twin-ply PowFlex® vs sacks.
The Konzell employees bid farewell to this legend with respect and recognition, and are looking excitedly to the future and the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of them. They would like to wish their Polish colleagues at least equally as much success in operating their “Kathi.”
