Driving change

Leaving room for strengths and proactivity

Bischof+Klein is experiencing an exciting period of strategic and cultural transformation. The way in which the company is guided through these changes is crucial. Good leadership leaves room for the diverse strengths and a proactive approach in the team, and acts in a trusting and effective manner. It fosters an active learning culture, transfers responsibility, and motivates performance.

To be able to master these demanding tasks, the Human Resources department is providing support in the form of targeted managerial staff development. Important aspects in this regard include the establishment of strong networks, the adoption of helpful technologies, and a clear stance. The aim is to shape leadership at Bischof+Klein on the basis of our new values and the new WE.

In designing the measures, the colleagues from the Human Resources department first determine the managers’ development needs and then draw up tailored formats. In this way, individual development potentials are leveraged and overarching leadership skills are trained at the same time. There are also special development modules such as the culture module, for instance. These offers are aimed at all managers, from senior management to the shift supervisors.

The development center for senior management and parts of the middle management was also set up last year. Together with the HR partners, the managerial staff can obtain support for their individual development, if required, in regular development talks. A “leadership hub”, a platform with helpful knowledge (e.g. articles or book tips) is additionally offered in Connect.

In the sense of the active learning culture, the development of managers is extensively dependent on their willingness to engage in life-long learning. Our company can only evolve if the people in it continue to develop. Studies show that over 70 percent of learning does not take place in training courses, but by overcoming challenges in day-to-day leadership.

The HR partners recommend: “Talk to your colleagues about your leadership challenges and search for networks, outside of Bischof+Klein as well, that support and inspire you in your individual development process.”
